Intimate Voices chamber music in an intimate setting
2023-2024 updates coming soon -
We plan to return to full programming!
February 2023, Season 14
During these "COVID seasons" we have not been able to visit our vulnerable community friends in person. We were happy to be able to have a great Zoom session with a special-needs pre-school during the "Delta fall" of 2020.
Now we are carefully resuming in-person events, with a free sensory/autism-friendly Family Program on Sunday afternoon, March 12 , 2023 at CSAIR!
Intimate Voices in the Community, Season 11
September 2019 Update
This season we plan to continue our expanded outreach portfolio, with a special focus in sharing our music with children and familes, thanks to continued support from the community and especially from NewYork- Presbyterian Allen Hospital.
We have been presenting annual free Family Programs at CSAIR since the first season of Intimate Voices in 2009, and for the past 3 seasons we have specially designed it to encourage the inclusion of childen with special needs from throughout the community. This interactive and informal program brings us all together in a sensory/autism-friendly and relaxed setting to enjoy great music, involving the audience in actively exploring the music, and engaging the whole family. The opportunity for all families to really get close to live music, and to the musicians playing it, can inspire children’s enjoyment of and participation in music-making of all kinds for years to come!
We are looking forward to presenting this format again this season on Sunday afternoon March 1, 2-3 pm at CSAIR. Everyone is welcome to this free event!
We will also again visit a local special-needs pre-school, where we will play for small classes of excited kids who listen, clap, sing and move to our music. Every class is different and we enjoy workng with the staff to structure a wonderful short program for each group.
We will continue our visits to area nursing homes, rehab centers and the James J. Peters VA Medical Center to play for those in the community who are not able to come out and hear music. Many of our wonderful audience members remember us from year to year, and we know that our visits are also welcomed and enjoyed by the hard-working staff members at these facilities.
Our heartfelt thanks to all our supporters who make these programs in the community possible!
